How to Make Christmas Tree Cupcakes with Our Vanilla Cupcakes Baking Mix

Welcome to Day 1 of our 24 Day Baking Countdown. Over the next 24 days I will be sharing fun and simple Christmas baking ideas you can make at home using our baking mixes. It is the perfect way to add a little festive magic to your kitchen each day.

Today we are starting with Christmas Tree Cupcakes. These are made with our Vanilla Cupcakes Baking Mix and decorated to look like little Christmas trees. They are easy to create at home and a great activity for kids or for anyone who wants to bring something fun to a Christmas party.

How to Make Christmas Tree Cupcakes

What you need

• Bake it by Giovannellis Vanilla Cupcakes Baking Mix
• Buttercream icing that comes with your baking mix
• Green gel food colouring (I use Leaf Green Colour)
• Petal piping tip
• Piping bag
• Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup cut into quarters for the tree trunk
Sprinkles I used our Christmas Range linked here
• Luster dust for a snowy sparkle

Step by step

Bake your cupcakes
Prepare the Vanilla Cupcakes Baking Mix as instructed on the packet. Allow them to cool fully before decorating.

Make your icing
Whip up the buttercream icing that comes with your mix. Separate it into two bowls. Colour half with a green gel food colouring. I use Leaf Green because it gives a bright and festive colour without needing too much.

Prepare your cupcake base
Spread a thin layer of white icing over the top of each cupcake. This does not need to be perfect. The aim is simply to create a smooth base to hold your Christmas tree.

Pipe the Christmas tree
Add your green icing to a piping bag fitted with a petal piping tip.
Place the wider end of the tip towards the cupcake and press down, moving side to side to create the layered tree shape.
If you feel unsure about your shape, lightly mark the outline with a knife and follow your guide. Leave a small gap at the bottom where the tree trunk will go.

Add the trunk
Press a quarter of a Reese’s cup into the base of the tree.

Decorate your tree
Finish your cupcakes with some sprinkles decorations. Add a star on top and use the rest of the sprinkles to mimic the baubles
For an extra snowy effect, dust the tree with a touch of edible luster dust to add a beautiful shimmer.

And enjoy. These cupcakes look so cute on a Christmas table and taste delicious too. You could even make a pink version too with a pink Christmas Tree!
