DIY Edible Gold Decorations for Christmas Baking
For Day 5 of our 24 Day Advent Calendar Recipe Countdown I am sharing one of my favourite little Christmas baking tricks. This is how I make my DIY edible gold decorations and they actually taste nice. When I made these on stage over the weekend everyone loved them so much which is why I had to share the full method with you.
Edible gold luster dust is one of my favourite decorating products and a tiny amount goes a very long way. You can find it at most cake supply stores by searching Cake Supply Store near me online. Many bargain or dollar stores with a baking section also stock it which makes it super easy to buy.
How to Make DIY Edible Gold Decorations
Get a small amount of luster dust ready. You only need a tiny amount for this. I used less than half of a quarter teaspoon.
Add your Maltesers to a small bag and tip in the luster dust. Give the bag a good shake until all of the Maltesers are all coated.
Remove the Maltesers and add your popcorn to the same bag. Shake again so the popcorn picks up the leftover gold. You can add a little more luster dust if you need to but most of the time the leftover dust is enough.
That is all you need to do. It is simple, quick and adds the prettiest gold shimmer to your Christmas baking.
We then used these to decorate a or Cupcake Christmas Tree which you can check out here.
