Cupcake Christmas Tree with Edible Gold Decorations

For Day 6 of our 24 Day Advent Calendar Baking Countdown we are making Christmas Tree Cupcakes using our Vanilla Cupcakes Baking Mix and the edible gold decorations I shared yesterday. This is such a cute and simple Christmas baking idea and perfect if you want something festive without a lot of fuss.

You can pipe the icing if you feel confident or you can simply shape it with a knife. It still turns out just as cute and it is such a fun activity for kids or for Christmas gatherings.

How to Make Christmas Tree Cupcakes

Make your Bake it by Giovannellis Vanilla Cupcakes and buttercream icing as normal.

Take a spoonful of icing out and mix in a small amount of cocoa powder to create your brown icing. You only need about half a teaspoon. If you prefer you can use a little brown food colouring. Colour the remaining icing green. I used a gel food colouring in leaf green colour as it is a great shade for Christmas .

Pipe your cupcakes with the green icing (leaving 1 out so only pipe 11) or if you don't want to do the piping for this one you can simply use a knife or spatula, you can either ice them individually or you can pop them into the tree shape and then ice them all together as it doesn't matter if the icing covers the bits in between the cupcakes. Use the brown icing for the trunk cupcake, I just used a knife for this as it is only a little bit but also you can make it look a little textured like a tree trunk. 

To assemble the tree get a board, or cake tray etc, place the brown cupcake at the base in the middle for the trunk. Above it place four green cupcakes with the trunk sitting in the centre. Above that place three cupcakes in between the four then two for the next row and one right at the top. You simply place the next row in-between the others to get the tree shape. 

Decorate with sprinkles, the gold edible balls from yesterday’s recipe and your gold popcorn. It adds such a pretty shimmer and creates the cutest Christmas tree.

This is a lovely festive idea for parties, Christmas Day or as a fun family baking activity and it looks amazing on a table.
