Why did my silicone moulds collapse in the oven? The question I've been asked & knew I had to answer this one as there may be some confusion with using silicone cupcake moulds in the oven.
I got asked this at a pop up recently from someone who had purchased some elsewhere thinking they must of been faulty 😫
But nope not at all any silicone mould like your rainbow cupcake moulds from us replace the Cupcake Patty Liners the paper ones you usually find around the outside of your cupcake, not the actual cupcake tray itself and this is where the confusion lies.
As you may think that a silicone cupcake mould goes straight into the oven but this isn't the case. Pop them straight in your cupcake tray like you normally would with the paper ones and fill with your cupcake batter.
This way they hold their shape in the oven, you have to remember that your oven is heating up to quite a temperature and baking the batter to form a cupcake so if you don't put them into the trays to keep them in place they will likely misshape or could even spill over.
But the difference is our silicone cupcake moulds compared to paper ones are re-usable, eco friendly, fridge, freezer and oven safe so you can use them for an array of baking & cooking. They can also then pop straight into a lunchbox for easy packing with the cupcakes.
I’ve made cupcakes, cheesecakes, pizza bites, brownie bites and so much more in them and I love them 😍. You can check them out here
You will be obsessed with them once you get them and use them so much. I will never go back to paper ones now.
Now as a side note you can get silicone trays but honestly I prefer to use the cupcake moulds, I like having the lining on the outside of mine I think it makes it easier to handle, pack in lunches and if your putting them out for a event or birthday you can hold the bottom without having to touch it all and it can sit on the table etc without the cupcake touching.
If you have any questions let me know we are always happy to chat.
Happy Cupcaking
